The FlavorSofa system provides the option for instant message users to charge for their time while communicating with others via IM clients such as Apple's iChat AV. FlavorSofa works by tracking users, who register their IM accounts as "buyers" and "sellers". The FlavorSofa website keeps track of account information and provides a convenient place for buyers and sellers to meet. Once a buyer knows of a seller, adding the seller to their "buddy list" the buyer simply communicates with the seller as with any other IM user. The difference is the seller can now charge for their time while communicating with the buyer.
